Introduction Data Sphere (Data Intelligence)

Challenge

Following the overall corporate strategy, the cloud is to be served as the central data service provider at the company in the future. For this purpose, all required data is to be made available in the cloud as a service in order to cover requirements such as self-service analytics, data science, data provision via API and also standard reporting.

The first step will therefore be to transfer the data from the SAP ERP and SAP BW systems to the cloud and store it there in a data lake.

Solution

SAP Data Intelligence was evaluated in a proof-of-concept and implemented as a first solution option. Due to the close integration with the existing SAP systems and the possibility to flexibly connect various cloud services, all requirements for data provision could be met. In doing so, SAP ERP systems were made available at table level via an SAP SLT system almost in real time, and SAP BW mass data including delta logic were connected for smooth and high-performance operation.

In addition, the metadata from SAP data was extracted and made available in the cloud to simplify further processing of the data in the respective target systems or rather to make such processing possible in the first place.

Customer benefit

By making SAP data available in a cloud environment, completely new scenarios for data analysis, data processing and data provision are possible. The enrichment through metadata in connection with open data standards allow flexible and cost-effective use and further processing of the data.

By opting for SAP Data Intelligence, the data could be quickly and easily extracted from the respective systems and made available in the cloud in a high-performance and cost-effective manner.
